Don’t contribute to other people’s clutter.
To those you love, give edibles and experiences or give cash so that the recipient can buy something they really need or pay off their debts.
To those who give you services during the year, like the hairdresser, gardener, or milkman, give a good tip and lots of appreciation.
To those you come across adventitiously, be kind and patient – this is a trying time of year for many people.
Prepare for excess
Have enough spare Tupperware and bags so that you can store extra food in the freezer and eat it later, or make a delicious soup or stew with it.
Save excess paper and ribbons to use again next year.
Get a real live tree
Get a live Christmas tree with roots. This is most important. Then you can plant it in your garden or in your community. The world is in desperate need of more live trees, not ones that are cut down and thrown away. Here is a good description of how you do it.
My Gift to you
My Christmas gift to you is a link to a recipe for a Canadian Christmas favourite – butter tarts.
